Are you teaching a leadership or health class? Are you worried about how to teach your students the leadership skills and qualities they need to succeed? You’re not alone and I’ve been there, too! In fact, that’s exactly why I created this Leadership Worksheet and Assignment. Many teachers face the same challenge and don’t know exactly where to start. But what if there was an easy and fun way to teach your students the basics of leadership, give them some choice in their learning, and complete an assessment at the same time?
Introducing one of my favourite Katie is a Teacher products, Leadership Worksheet and Assignment. This product provides your students with an fun way in which to learn about leaders and their own leadership style.
BENEFITS OF THE LEADERSHIP WORKSHEET AND ASSIGNMENT
When you purchase this product and put it into use in your classroom, your students will be able to:
- Learn about the key attributes good leaders posses
- Complete research on a leader of their choosing
- Reflect on how they can personally improve their leadership skills
- Improve their writing based upon a leader of their choice
With this assignment, you’ll be able to provide your students with choice, leading to higher autonomy and motivation (read all about the benefits of providing students with choice at my blog post here). You’ll also be able to assess your students on their research and writing skills, pinpointing specific areas they’re doing great at and others they need more support in.
WAYS TO USE THE LEADERSHIP WORKSHEET AND ASSIGNMENT
Get creative when you use this resource! When I first created it, I used it in a Junior High Leadership class with grade eight and nine students. I wanted to get to know the class, see what kind of leaders they were interested in and, therefore, what types of leadership ideas they may want to support around the school.
Since then, I’ve used it in Health classes when learning about leadership styles and personal goals, English Language Arts when wanting students to improve their research and writing skills, and Social Studies/History when I’ve focused on having students improve their research skills on a historical leader of their choosing.
Feel free to split this assignment into parts. For example, you don’t need to have students complete the written assignment, they can focus simply on the writing, or vice versa. You could also have them start with answering questions at the beginning of the term, then build more skills as the class progresses, deepening their own leadership skills. They can return to the assignment and complete the written portion at the end of the semester as a summative assessment.
WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT THE LEADERSHIP WORKSHEET AND ASSIGNMENT
This was just what I needed in a pinch! I’ve struggled finding resources for this course and this really helped. Thank you so much!

This helped me start off the year talking about Leadership and how my students are leaders of the school. The research project is also a great segway to learning how to write. 🙂
