I tend to stay within my neighbourhood (aka. downtown, 17t avenue, the beltline) when I go out to eat. It’s because it’s convenient and I like to walk everywhere. That being said, it’s certainly no reason not to visit Rouge.
Inglewood isn’t all that far away, but it seems an eternity to me because it’s across the river! SO FAR! It’s worth it though.
The quaint red house sits on a beautiful, well-manicured lot with a beautiful view of the garden and the river from afar.
Being a French restaurant in Calgary, expect meat. If you are a vegetarian or vegan you will really enjoy the wine selection, but that’s about it.
Being a fish fan, I can’t go wrong with halibut. The soup is delicious and not too heavy, and the chorizo crusted main halibut is wonderful and perfectly prepared. For mean lovers, the striploin is delicious as well, and the pork tasting is good for something quite rich.
Overally, I would most definitely recommend Rouge. It’s expensive, but for a delicious meal, you can’t go wrong. Feeling like dessert? The deconstructed s’more is basically Heaven on a plate. Seriously. I’m not lying here.
