I’m ashamed to admit it, but I used to spend an exorbitant and unnecessary amount of time at Thai Tai subs. Not because it’s particularly good, but because my friends all think it is.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think it’s absolutely disgusting or anything, but if I want a Thai sub, I want a Thai sub, not an overly-Americanized version of a Thai Sub.
How silly I was to have waited to try Kim Anh Subs, which is on 17th Ave. right across from Thai Tai and is infinitely better!
Now I will admit, I spend copious amounts of time at Kim Anh, where I usually order the Chicken Satay Sub with everything on it. Also delicious are their deepy fried spring rolls and their shrimp salad rolls.
Cheaper than Thai Tai, a far shorter line, and better overall. Obviously, I highly recommend hitting up Kim Anh. The chicken satay is my favourite, and the beef satay is also good. I wasn’t a fan of the tofu sub because they don’t use firm enough tofu for my personal taste, but the veggie one is fine.
Hi Katie, my mother was the original owner of Kim Anh Subs. We were the small hole in the wall that was opened up 3 yrs before Thai Tai opened up across the street. Although we don’t own it anymore, I’m glad you took the chance to try the food out too. I’m also glad you enjoyed your visit!
