Don’t you love my witty title? I’m just so punny. Okay, that’s enough. I crossed the line there from somewhat charming and endearing in a sad sort of way into hopelessly irritating. I apologize.
Anyway, as I’ve previously mentioned, I really enjoy breakfast. I particularly really enjoy breakfast in Victoria as it has much better breakfast/brunch restaurants than Calgary does.
One of my favourite spots in Vic is Shine Cafe. I usually hit up the downtown core for my meals, so it’s always a nice change of scenery when I go to Shine. not to mention the food is great and there’s (usually) a bit less of a wait than there is for places like John’s Place and Blue Fox.
For me, one of the biggest draws to Shine is the sides they offer. I love the cornbread adn the grilled tomatoes best. I usually get omelettes, which are a good bet, but Shine also makes really good french toast and several different eggs benedict options which are unique and tasty. They also have vegan options, which is wonderful!
Overall, I definitely recommend Shine. there are long waits, but I don’t find it as cramped as Blue Fox and john’s place. Avoid hitting it right at lnch or Saturday and Sunday brunch times if you want to avoid the silly waits. Try an eggs benny, you won’t be disappointed.
