One of my very favourite things to do is eat. Now let’s be a bit more specific; one of my very favourite things to do is eat brunch. This also happens to be the thing to do in Victoria. Lucky for me.
On a friend’s recommendation, I decided to hit up Lady Marmalade. It’s one of her very favourite places, and I tend to trust her judgement.
I ordered the tofu scramble, one of my friends ordered the huevos rancheros, and another got the avocado, bacon, and brie baguette with a side of poutine. The food was fine. Nothing spectacular, but not as good as I had expected, being as the restuarant had been so talked up to me.
It was very slow, both to get in and to get service. Additionally, the server was… moderately friendly. Be prepared for that.
Overall, I wouldn’t go out of my way to recommend Lady Marmalade. It’s certainly a fine breakfast/brunch/lunch locale, but it isn’t the best I’ve been to. They have a nice menu, but the food doesn’t taste as good as you would expect, if that makes logical sense. Additionally, they need to work on their service.
