It took me a long time to actually hit up Rebar in Victoria, and when I finally did, it was right before moving back to Calgary. Sadface. I’ve been a couple of times since then while visiting because I enjoyed it so much and because (on my first visit back to Victoria after leaving) I was still vegan.
The atmosphere is very nice. Though it’s small inside and I tend to get claustrophobic, I find Rebar to have quite a calming and comfortable vibe. The service is also very good; friendly, attentive, and helpful.
I’ve had the almond burger, quite a few salads, and the yam quesadilla. All are delicious, and their salad dressings are all awesome! You’ll also definitely want to get a smoothie; great options and flavour combinations. The chocolate cake is good too, get one to split with the table because you’re sure to be full after your meal (and smoothie), but it’s worth a taste.
Overall, I highly recommend visiting Rebar. The food is great, though it may not live up to expectations (I’m aware of how highly it’s touted by Victorians). Make sure you pick up a cookbook on your way out as well, it’s well worth the price tag and contains quick and easy recipes that are absolutely delicious.
