Oink!

I first checked out Pig in Victoria after it first opened on Blanshard and a few friends wanted to check it out. I basically don’t like pork unless it’s pulled, and even then I usually find that it doesn’t live up to my expectations because my mom’s is always infinitely better.

However, I found that I really enjoyed Pig and went back shortly after my first visit there (before moving back to Calgary) and it was a spot I decided to hit again on a recent trip back to Victoria.

I’ve had the half pound of pulled pork with coleslaw and cornbread and the smoked chicken sandwich in the past and enjoyed them all. I’ve also tried portions of friends’ beef brisket and poutine. They were good, but I’m a classic pulled pork kinda girl.

Also, can we talk about the fact that cornbread is one of my favourite foods and the cornbred at Pig lived up to my expectations. Amazing.

This most recent time around I decided to get the pulled pork sandwich, which was delicious, but I found myself missing the cornbred and had to pop up for a side of it. In the future, I’ll probably stick with the half pound that comes with cornbread and ‘slaw.

Pig BBQ Joint on Urbanspoon I definitely recommend hitting up Pig for a very good, very filling meal. The price is good and the atmosphere is also nice, and a great spot to people-watch. The pulled pork itself is great, as is the BBQ sauce it’s been slathered in. Worth the wait in line if there is one when you pop in.
